Crooner and actor Frankie Avalon has sold his golf course retreat in La Quinta for $955,000.
The three-bedroom, 3 1/2-bathroom, 3,285-square-foot house looks out over a pool and spa to a fairway and the mountains beyond in the PGA West master-planned community.
A golfer, the ‘60s teen idol (‘Beach Blanket Bingo’ among others) purchased the home in 2005 for $1,185,000, according to public records. It previously sold for $700,000 in 2003. That owner timed it right.
The average listing price for similar homes in the area is $1,047,333 and the average sales price for similar recently sold homes is $962,311, according to Trulia.com. So Avalon’s sale is in keeping with what is happening in the Riverside County community.
In 2008, 912 homes sold in the 92253 ZIP Code at a median price of $403,000, a 28% drop from 2007, according to MDA DataQuick.
