A men’s fragrance from “a troubled company”

To celebrate its 100th anniversary of being a General Motors company, Cadillac is now promoting its own cosmetic line, “Cadillac, the new fragrance for men.”
Thankfully, the Dubai-based cosmetic company Beauty Contact Inc. is producing a fragrance that steers away from any notes of upholstery or oil and instead has hints of grapefruit, chamomile, geraniums, tarragon, cinnamon, sweet spice and incense.
However, according to an article by the Toronto Star, York University professor Alan Middleton said that the fragrance is the wrong route to take for brand extension and indicates a troubled company.
This makes sense, as GM has famously just escaped from bankruptcy, saved only by taxpayer dollars. It’s almost amusing, then, that this same company has rebounded with hopes that this same citizenry will soon wear its scents of geraniums and grapefruit.
‘Neither Porsche nor BMW nor any other transportation brand that has tried this silliness has been very successful.’
