Diving equipment recall

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of Halcyon diving equipment.

The over pressure valves, which advance air out of the system, could fail, allowing a leak in the buoyancy compensator devices and the diver lift inflatable devices, the commission said. This could prevent a diver from maintaining neutral buoyancy and pose a drowning hazard. No injuries have been reported.

The recall includes the Halcyon Explorer, Eclipse, CCR35, Evolve and Pioneer buoyancy compensator devices, Halcyon surface marker buoys, lift bags, diver alert markers surf shuttle, and diver lift raft inflatable devices. The word ‘Halcyon’ is printed on each of the items.

The Halcyon products being recalled were sold at diving equipment retailers and distributors from January 2006 through December 2008. Consumers should immediately stop using the products and contact a Halcyon distributor or dealer for a free inspection. The company can be reached at (800) 425-2966 and at techservices@halcyon.net.
