The incident started with an early-morning burglary of a house and auto. It ended with a lockdown of a high school in the Texas capital and with SWAT officers being called in to capture a suspect barricaded in a nearby home.

Much happened in between.

Police responded to reports of a burglary of a vehicle and a home in the southwest Austin area at about 5:30 a.m., according to the Austin American-Statesman. Officers managed to track suspect as he drove the stolen car, police said.

That triggered a pursuit that appeared to end at a house near Aspen Creek Parkway. But the suspect ran off, stole another vehicle and then tried to ram officers, who opened fire in response, authorities told the Statesman.

The suspect, apparently wounded, then drove to a nearby house, where the SWAT officers got involved and eventually captured him at about 10:20 a.m., police said.

The Statesman even posted a Google map tracking the various sites along the chase route.

An ambulance left the scene soon after, escorted by police. Nearby Bowie High School was taken off lockdown at about the same time, officials told the Statesman.
