BEIJING -- The Olympic information system is a treasure trove of information, providing reporters with results, quotes and biographies of athletes.
And biographies of horses. Listed by country.
Neruda, for example, is part of the U.S. contingent. He’s a gelding and a Koninklijk Warmbloed, born in the Netherlands. He’s an Olympic veteran, too, having finished 25th in individual jumping at the Athens Games.
What we’d really like to see is the biographies expanded to include the kind of information that appears in NHL and NBA players’ biographies. They might look like this:
Favorite movie: Seabiscuit.
Favorite song: Horse With No Name.
Favorite actor: Mr. Ed.
