Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice) has jumped to an early lead over two-time challenger Marcy Winograd in the Venice/South Bay’s 36th Congressional District.
Early returns put Harman with about 65% of the vote to Winograd’s almost 35%. When Winograd, a teacher and peace activist, challenged Harman in 2006, she won nearly 38% of the vote.
Winograd waged an aggressive campaign but Harman fought back with mailers and phone calls and stumped throughout the district.
