Swell Season returns to McCabe’s on Feb. 12

The Swell Season will pop in to town for a small-scale show Feb. 12 at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, the group’s first performance in the L.A. region since headlining the Hollywood Bowl in July 2010.
A documentary on duo Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, “The Swell Season,” is due for DVD release on March 13, having premiered last year at the Tribeca Film Festival and was screened at a number of film festivals and theaters around the country.
The duo’s music also is central to “Once: The Musical,” a theatrical production based on the 2007 sleeper hit film ‘Once,’ which is headed for a Broadway run that opens March 18 at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre.
Separately, Hansard and Irglova have continued a string of solo shows, and Irglova is slated to play the Hotel Café in Hollywood on Feb. 8. Hansard is on a solo tour that’s taking him through the South and Southwest.
