And just like that, the Golden Globe strike might be off.

The Golden Globe Awards organizers announced they were taking over the show Sunday from NBC, turning it into a bona fide news event: ‘After discussions with NBC, Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Jorge Camara today announced that the HFPA will have complete control of its 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards Announcement that is scheduled to take place Sunday, January 13 at 6:00 p.m. PST in the International Ballroom of The Beverly Hilton. Under the new arrangement, there will be no restrictions placed on media outlets covering the press conference.’

Jeff Hermanson, an executive with the Writers Guild of America, had said earlier in the day that, if such a move were to occur, the WGA would probably not picket Sunday.

‘If it’s a press conference that just announces winners, we wouldn’t picket that,’ he said. ‘Honestly, quite likely we are not going to picket. Unless they do something very deceitful and do what they say they are not going to do, I don’t want to picket it. We’re not happy with what’s happened. We think NBC should have allowed the association to go forward with an awards show that was not televised. But they were not willing to do that.’
