The CW has picked up its first series for the fall season, including ‘Ringer’ ‘Hart of Dixie,’ ‘Secret Circle,’ and ‘H8R.’
‘Ringer’ reunites Sarah Michelle Gellar with the network formerly known as the WB and UPN, both of which once aired ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’ Originally slated for development at CBS, the show finds Gellar playing a young woman on the run from the mob who hides out by pretending to be her twin sister -- until she discovers that her twin’s in danger as well.
Produced by Warner Bros. Television along with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire company, ‘Hart of Dixie’ stars Rachel Bilson as a New York City doctor who inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town filled with eccentric locals.
‘Secret Circle’ comes from Kevin Williamson, the showrunner behind the CW hit ‘Vampire Diaries,’ and WBTV. Based on the young-adult novel series of the same name, the story follows a shy teenager who moves to a new town and discovers that she is a witch and belongs to a coven. Her powers can help unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil.
The reality series ‘H8R’ matches up famous people with those who hate them, challenging the celebrities to transform their haters into fans.
CW presents its fall schedule to advertisers in New York on Thursday.
