It’s not likely to replace ‘Damn Yankees’ at the top of the baseball music charts, but Nils Lofgren’s ‘In Yankee Stadium’ might hit it out of the park for die-hard Pinstripers.
Lofgren, who’s best known as guitarist for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, released the song several months ago, and it’s available for download (free) at Lofgren’s website. The 57-year-old rocker co-wrote the song with his wife, Amy, a long-time Yankees fan.
If you’re still hungry for more about the impending deconstruction of the honored stadium, here’s a sample lyric and the chorus:
For every soul who entered here we raise a glass we shed a tearA beauty in every face appears hope and love’s alive tonight In Yankee Stadium in Yankee Stadium in Yankee Stadium everyone is beautiful everyone is beautiful
No word from Lofgren if Manny Ramirez is among those beautiful people.
