Chicago is rejoicing. The White Sox tonight joined the Cubs in the baseball playoffs.
Jim Thome hit a solo home run and that was all the White Sox needed, beating the Minnesota Twins 1-0 in a one-game tiebreaker to claim the American League Central title and the final spot in the postseason.
The Sox advance to play the AL East champion Tampa Bay Rays in a first-round playoff series starting in two days.
