A Bowden (not Bobby) is fired

A Bowden got fired on Monday.
Bobby?
Heavens no, the venerable Florida State coach is still gainfully employed, but not in Gainesville.
Terry?
No, far as we know, Terry Bowden, the former Auburn coach, is still employed as a college football analyst at Yahoo!
The Bowden on the outs is Tommy of Clemson, who reportedly has been told to hit the road after a season of high expectations took a wrong turn and is now at 3-3.
Clemson was picked to win the Atlantic Coast Conference and started the year ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press poll. Clemson might have recovered from a season-opening loss to Alabama, but consecutive conference losses to Maryland and Wake Forest sealed Bowden’s fate. He leaves in midseason of his 10th year with a record of 72-45. He never had a losing season.
Funny how fast things change. Last December, a coaching offer from Arkansas earned Bowden a huge contract extension to stay at Clemson. The school locked him up through 2014 at nearly $2 million a year. Now it has to pay a huge buyout, reportedly about $4 million.
Assistant Dabo Swinney will serve as interim coach.
Coaching is a tough business, but it pays well. Tommy Bowden is a good coach and a good guy, one of the best quotes in the business, but when it came to his employment, well, business was business.
When a school is paying out that much money, it has the right to do anything it wants -- even if it’s stupid.
Tommy will coach somewhere if that’s what he wants. He would also be a natural in the broadcast business. ESPN could team him with Lou Holtz and sit back and watch the fur fly.
Can’t wait to read brother Terry’s Yahoo! commentary on the situation.
Think he’ll take Clemson’s side in this?
‘My brother deserved to get fired!! He belongs in Pop Warner’
Naaaah.
