Pau Gasol is the go-to guy so far for Lakers

I’m a shameful Kobe Bryant lover, but the best Lakers player through the first quarter of the season has easily been Pau Gasol, hands down. The way guys were driving around Kobe the other night, Sacramento was the first time I can honestly say the inimitable 24 is starting to look like a guy in his 13th NBA season. How can a team that is 18-3 look as lifeless, unfocused and disinterested as the Lakers often have lately?

The Lakers’ efense has no D. The Christmas Day matchup against Boston is infinitely more important, psychologically, to the Lakers than it is to the Celtics. Lose, and the Lakers run the danger of being Jedi mind-tricked.
