Dodgers continue negotiations with Manny Ramirez

The Dodgers continued their negotiations with Manny Ramirez today, but don’t appear to be any closer to re-signing the All-Star outfielder.

“Just checking in,” General Manager Ned Colletti said of his 15-minute phone conversation with Ramirez’s agent, Scott Boras.

“We had a conversation,” Boras said.

Ramirez is still looking for a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year, while the Dodgers have in mind something closer to the two-year, $45-million deal they offer him in November.

The Dodgers don’t have an offer on the table at this time.

With Ramirez’s landing place far from decided, the Dodgers are focused on acquiring pitching. They are most interested in Randy Wolf and Jon Garland, and are looking at Braden Looper as a fallback.
