On Monday, the Lakers recalled rookie guard Sun Yue from their D-League D-Fenders team of the NBA’s Development League, and he was at practice.
Today, the Lakers reassigned Sun back to the D-Fenders for the second time this season.
Sun will play with the D-Fenders today in a game against Iowa at Staples Center.
The Lakers depart Friday for a seven-game trip. Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said Sun may go on the trip.
In four games with the D-Fenders, Sun averaged 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 36 minutes per game.
He shot 36.4% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.
NBA players can be assigned to the D-League up to three times during the season, and they get their NBA salaries.
So it’s possible that Sun could play for the D-Fenders once more.
