NASCAR driver Johnny Borneman will try to qualify for two races on two coasts over the Fourth of July weekend. He will be in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Friday for the NASCAR Nationwide Series qualifying. Then he will fly to California to qualify for the NASCAR Camping World Series West race at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale on Saturday.
The driver from Ramona, Calif., has won three West Series races in his career and has raced regularly in the series since 2000.
In the Firestone Indy Lights series, Bryan Herta Autosport added a driver for Saturday’s race at Watkins Glen International in New York. Felipe Guimaraes, an 18-year-old from Brazil, will join Daniel Herrington as the two drivers for Bryan Herta Autosport, owned in part by Valencia’s Bryan Herta, a Hart High graduate.
