There’s more trouble for the last-place Ducks.
Defenseman James Wisniewski was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL on Monday for a hit on the Phoenix Coyotes’ Shane Doan during Saturday’s game at Phoenix. You can see the hit in the video above.
The league cited Wisniewski for what the NHL called ‘a forearm blow to the head.’ No penalty was assessed on the play, which came in the first period.
Ducks General Manager Bob Murray was said to be unhappy with the decision and refused to comment.
Wisniewski, who has nine points and leads the Ducks in plus-minus at plus-six, will forfeit $28,497.40, which will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. He will be eligible to return Saturday against Phoenix.
