The Bruins wrapped up a Monday afternoon practice of more than two hours with some abbreviated scrimmaging, Coach Ben Howland holding back a little -- once again -- because the team has been thinned by injury.

Even though UCLA had its biggest contingent of players in more than a week, guard Michael Roll sat out the contact portion of the session with an ice bag wrapped around his recovering ankle, and guard Jerime Anderson, coming back from a groin injury, left a while later.

‘I’ve been dying to get back in,’ Anderson said. ‘I’ve been sitting on the sideline.’

Howland said that he will hold Roll, Anderson and freshman forward Brendan Lane (ankle) out of Wednesday night’s first exhibition game against Concordia.

To make matters worse, forward Nikola Dragovic had to leave early because of food poisoning apparently caused by pasta that had been left out. Dragovic was already scheduled to start the Concordia game on the bench as punishment for missing a mandatory team meeting.

‘He might have got out of the discipline for missing the mandatory meeting by getting food poisoning,’ Howland said. ‘Anything’s possible.’
