For the Ducks, Sunday’s home game against the San Jose Sharks carries added purpose -- one that goes beyond trying to stay in the playoffs race.
The club has partnered with CHOC Children’s for a night dedicated to raising funds for the hospital. For the first time in NHL history, all 44 dasher boards that ring the ice at Honda Center will be donated to CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County) for the evening. Among the corporate partners: Hilton Anaheim, Citizens Business Bank, Del Taco, Honda, Jack Daniels, Lucas Oil, Miller Lite, Pepsi and Prime Ticket.
The game also marks the start of a campaign in which Pepsi Refresh will make a donation to CHOC for each save made by the Ducks’ goaltender the remainder of the season. In addition, CHOC patients will serve as Zamboni riders during the intermissions and as honorary Ducks.
Discounted tickets can be purchased online at choc.com/chocnight/ or by calling the CHOC Children’s Foundation at (714) 532-8690. Also, limited edition Herrington ‘Choco’ bears wearing Ducks jerseys signed by Anaheim players will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of tickets and the stuffed bears will support the CHOC Children’s Orthopaedic Institute.
