Kentucky Derby runner-up Ice Box has been made the 3-1 favorite for the Belmont Stakes on Saturday.

Ice Box, which did not run in the Preakness, will be ridden by Jose Lezcano from the No. 5 post for trainer Nick Zito, who also has a second starter in the race, Fly Down, which is the third choice at 9-2.

Preakness runner-up First Dude is the second choice at 7-2.

Neither Derby winner Super Saver nor Preakness winner Lookin At Lucky are part of the field of 12 3-year-olds entered in the final leg of the Triple Crown.

Also entered Wednesday: Dave in Dixie, Drosselmeyer, Game on Dude, Interactif, Make Music for Me, Spangled Star, Stately Victor, Stay Put and Uptowncharlybrown.

In other horse racing news Wednesday, jockey Richard Migliore retired after a 30-year career. He had hoped to resume riding after fusion surgery following a second broken neck in January, but doctors told him last week another return wasn’t possible.

Migliore never won a Triple Crown race, but his mounts earned more than $160 million, and he won 10 riding titles at Aqueduct.
