Goal!!!
South Africa has taken the lead against Mexico 10 minutes into the second half.
The goal, on a glorious shot by Siphiwe Tshabalala, came off a fast break, with the Bafana Bafana streaming down the field and Tshabalala taking the final pass and then unleashing a rising shot that left Mexico goalkeeper Oscar Perez rooted on his goal line.
The first goal in the 2010 World Cup goes, fittingly, to an African player.
The goal drew a tremendous roar form the crowd and now the game is on. Can Mexico come back or is South Africa destined for a memorable victory?
Updated at 12:30 p.m.: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated the name of Mexican goalkeeper Oscar Perez.
