Wimbledon: Say goodbye to John Isner

A day after he finished his 11-hour, 5-minute, three-day first-round match, Wimbledon’s 23rd-seeded John Isner is out of the singles draw. After serving a record-setting 112 aces in his historic win over Nicolas Mahut that ended with a a fifth-set score of 70-68, Isner lost his second-round match to Dutchman Thiemo De Bakker 6-0, 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 14 minutes. And Isner served zero aces on Friday on Court 5.

Isner predictably seemed to have no pop on his first stroke and he was often massaging his serving shoulder. He was behind from the beginning and didn’t have the reserves to collect himself after losing the first set in 16 minutes. As of now Isner is still in the doubles draw and scheduled next up on Court 19 with his American partner Sam Querrey.
