The shutout streak by Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller that covered parts of four games ended Wednesday at 178 minutes 34 seconds.

St. Louis forward David Backes beat Hiller on the stick side on a breakaway after the Ducks gave away the puck on a line change, ending Hiller’s bid for a third consecutive shutout.

Hiller, named Tuesday to the roster for the Jan. 30 NHL All-Star game, had shut out Columbus and San Jose in consecutive games.

The Ducks were leading St. Louis, 3-2, in the second period after Backes scored a second goal to get back into a game the Ducks had led, 3-0.
