When it comes to college coaches taking an interest in their recruits, Wake Forest baseball Coach Tom Walter took it to a different level. He donated his kidney on Monday to freshman outfielder Kevin Jordan.

‘I would do anything to help anyone of my players or any of my family members -- anything in my power to help them have a better quality of life is something that I want to do,’ Walter told Baseball America.

He and Jordan, who is from Columbus, Ga., had the 5 1/2-hour surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
