The sun is already making things warm at Mission Hills Country Club as the first round has begun in the first major of the LPGA season at the Kraft Nabisco Championships.
The two early leaders of the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage are Kate Fletcher of the United States and Maria Fernandez of Spain. They are both at two-under par. Fletcher is through six holes and Fernandez through five.
Mindy Kim of Diamond Bar, who also finished in the top 10 last week at the Kia Classic, is in a 10-way tie for second. Kim has played five holes.
Cristie Kerr, who has won two majors (but not this one) and surged into third place last week, is one-over par after she bogeyed her first hole, and Karrie Webb, a two-time winner here (and owner of seven majors) is also one-over after bogeying her first hole as well. Defending champion and world No. 1 Yani Tseng is at even-par after one hole.
