Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning reportedly has been cleared to play by two doctors.
According to ESPN, unnamed sources said that one of the doctors who deemed Manning OK to take the field is Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed the most recent surgery on the quarterback’s neck.
The sources say that Watkins recently examined Manning in Los Angeles and said his neck would be stable enough for him to play as soon as Sunday if the nerves in his arm had regenerated.
One of the sources reportedly said that the other doctor who cleared Manning, Colts neurosurgeon Dr. Hank Feuer, recently told the star quarterback, ‘If you were my own son, I’d tell [you] to go play.’
But team owner Jim Irsay tweeted Thursday evening that ‘Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for the Indianapolis Colts.’
