Maria Crail, a 59-year-old Latina woman, was found dead inside her home at 7004 Corona Ave. in Bell about 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 2. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene at 9:14 a.m. According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, officers with the Bell Police Department responded to a call of a dead person inside a home. Upon arrival, officers found Crail inside her bedroom. According to a coroner’s report, Crail died from strangulation. In addition, Crail’s 2000 black Mercedes Benz was missing from the garage. Homicide detectives informed Border Patrol personnel and were told that the vehicle had already crossed the border. Mexican authorities were later informed of the homicide and vehicle description. At about 11:30 a.m. Miguel Bunerostro, a 23-year-old Latino man, was detained near Mexicali, Mexico. Mexican authorities will transport Bunerostro back to the U.S., where he will be arrested on suspicion of murder.
