It took awhile but, to our minds, Hillary Clinton finally struck the right chord today in responding to the verbal pounding she took during -- and in the commentary after -- the debate earlier this week among the Democratic presidential candidates.

‘I don’t think they’re piling on because I’m a woman. I think they’re piling on because I’m winning,’ she said in New Hampshire as she officially filed the paperwork to appear on the state’s primary ballot.

Precisely the point we made in this item, which was sparked by our recollections of the grief frontrunners traditionally must endure.

Given Clinton’s comment today, it will be interesting to see if the ‘politics of piling on’ phrase that her advisors coined will disappear from their lexicon.
