I’m out here at Vista Murrieta for the first time. Took me 45 minutes to find a Subway that wasn’t still under construction, but there’s no shortage of model homes. Actually, this is a pretty nice Inland Empire high school. It reminds a lot of Rancho Verde down the 215 in Moreno Valley.

The Broncos are at the tail end of practice and I’m getting a kick out of the fact that Vista Murrieta Coach Coley Candaele is running the scout team offense. He just ran the ball on an option, and the defense made him look a lot younger than 36 by not laying a finger on him. Some of his assistants were yelling, ‘Hit ‘im’ though.

The Broncos are in the middle of the toughest stretch of their Southwestern League schedule. They just knocked off Murrieta Valley, 35-7, despite playing a sloppy game on offense, and will face visiting Temescal Canyon this Friday, followed by host Chaparral on Oct. 26.
