With its gutsy 3-2 triumph over Dos Pueblos on Saturday, it’s all downhill for Harvard-Westlake until the postseason.

I know another Mission League showdown with Sacred Heart looms in the weeks ahead, but barring any sort of weird upset, the Wolverines, ranked No. 2 in this week’s Southern Section coaches’ poll, will cruise past everyone just like they did in the first half of league play.

Of course, will this batch of Wolverines be happy with just another league title? Of course not.

With players as talented as Megan Norton and Emily Waterhouse leading the offense and Krystle Higgins and Cathryn Quinn assisting a strong blocking effort, Harvard-Westlake is bound to make it far into the Division I-A playoffs.

Still, can this team beat a top-ranked Santa Barbara squad which not only swept the Wolverines in the finals of the San Jose Archbishop Mitty tournament, but still has last year’s divisional final loss in the back of its mind?

We might have to wait until this year’s Division I-A finals for that answer.
