Orange County things that were worth watching over the weekend:
- Dominique Williams returned a kickoff 82 yards and a punt 99 yards, both for touchdowns, for Savanna in its 61-0 victory over Century. He also had a 62-yard touchdown run from scrimmage. Even in a one-sided game, those returns are impressive.
- Defensive end Issac Tucker returned an interception 32 yards with 5:44 left in the game to give Los Amigos a 21-17 come-from-behind victory over Garden Grove League favorite Rancho Alamitos. And that, friends, is why they play the game.
Mike Edwards rushed 28 times for 245 yards and four touchdowns as Whittier Christian held off Campbell Hall, 54-34. He also sacked the quarterback for a safety, which is another way of saying he did it all. Trabuco Hills returned two touchdowns for interceptions, by Evan Pesonen and J.B. Torsy, in its 45-14 victory over Huntington Beach. The Mustangs’ defense hasn’t allowed more than 14 points in any game this season. Josh Hawkins ran for 182 yards and totaled four touchdowns -- giving him 20 on the season -- for Anaheim Canyon in its 35-0 victory over Villa Park. If the Comanches can build off that performance, they might have something for El Dorado on Friday. Kane Wilson completed 19 of 25 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns for El Dorado in its 31-0 victory over Brea Olinda. It’s the Golden Hawks’ third shutout of the year and fourth consecutive game over 31 points. - Martin Henderson
