In an era when athletes are placed on almost god-like pedestals and are handed insane amounts of money to entertain, it’s great to hear a story about a high school athlete who wants to make changes off the playing field once he graduates.
A couple summers ago, Westlake senior golfer Chris Severn visited an orphanage in Africa and the experience changed his life. Bob Buttitta over at the Ventura County Star wrote a must-read article on Severn’s trip and how the 17-year-old plans to make a difference in the world once he’s finished with high school.
