It’s always the Holiday season at Campbell Hall

Was talking with a good friend, Jon, over the weekend and he asked who was the next sure-fire basketball prospect heading to college before eventually turning pro. (Like I know?) Mind you, my buddy had ulterior motives with this question. See, he’s a memorabilia junkie and has an eBay sellers site to prove it. You should see the shrine at this guy’s house.
Anyways, I told him Jrue Holiday of Campbell Hall has the most upside, the most potential that I’ve seen in quite sometime. The so-called experts at recruiting services such as Rivals.com and Scout.com agree. In fact, the senior guard already has an item for sale on eBay. Go figure. Wonder if my boy had anything to do with that...
‘Here’s a kid, Jrue, who is 17 years old and is being inundated with autograph and picture requests everywhere we go,’’ Vikings Coach Terry Kelly said. ‘Thing is, he knows he has a bright future in this sport but is humble enough, grounded enough to know how to deal with all the hype. He has good people around him, helping out with this whole process.’’
Holiday, no doubt, has a long way to go before the NBA comes calling. First things first, and that’s helping Campbell Hall, No. 7 in The Times’ preseason rankings, successfully defend its Division IV state title. Then there’s the letter of intent he signed with UCLA back in July. As for the future, it appears limitless. Looks like Jon is going to have to wait just like the rest of us.
