Buena Head Coach Justin Berenson has resigned, citing personal reasons, according to the Ventura County Star. Berenson leaves Buena after posting a 9-31 record over four seasons at the helm.

Of course, the team’s recent struggles are a relatively new phenomena for the football program. Under former Coach Rick Scott, who was fired by the school at the end of the 2003 season, the Bulldogs won at least a share of seven league titles over a span of 16 years.

Buena finished fifth in the Channel League this season with a 1-4 league record. Buena could return a few key players next season, including RB Michael Davis (935 yards rushing, eight TDs) and QB Rex Winslow (626 yards passing; 237 yards rushing).
