Temecula Valley kept it in the family and hired Mike Maxwell to replace the legendary Bud Kane as football coach, it was announced Wednesday at the school.
Maxwell played for Kane at Temecula Valley, where he was an all-Southern Section quarterback in 1989.
He went on to star at Nevada, spending a year under the tutelage of offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Bobby Petrino, who is better known lately as the guy who skipped out on the Atlanta Falcons after 13 games as head coach and went back to his cushy college job at Arkansas.
Let’s hope Maxwell sticks around a little longer. Maybe not 23 years like Kane, but at least long enough to beat Vista Murrieta.
