Dana Perez -- a highly recruited softball player -- might consider permanently ditching the diamond for the hardwood.
Tonight, Perez set a Downey girls’ basketball record for three-pointers in a game with nine in a 58-56 loss to Dominguez. Perez and teammate Jovanna Galindo co-held the previous record with eight. ‘Not a surprise,’ said first-year Coach Nate Harris. ‘In fact, I’ve been waiting for (Perez) to do this.’
Perez -- a junior who’s averaging more than 19 points -- finished with a season-best 33 points tonight.
