David Wear made seven of his nine shots and has 15 points in helping Mater Dei take a 35-32 halftime lead over Santa Margarita in a Trinity League showdown tonight at Mater Dei.
There were seven lead changes and seven ties in a well-played first half that saw Santa Margarita’s Jaime Serna contribute 11 points on five-of-five shooting. Santa Margarita’s Klay Thompson, after a slow start, scored at the buzzer and had nine points.
Mater Dei sophomore guard Gary Franklin, emerging as one of the best young players in the Southland, made two three-pointers, just two nights after hitting eight against JSerra. He has 11 points.
