The.Westchester boys’ basketball team was outscored, 21-1, from late in the first quarter to midway through the second and trails Riverside King, 38-26, at halftime of their Southern California Regional Division I quarterfinal tonight/Tuesday at Westchester.
Xavier Muldrow has 12 points to lead the fifth-seeded Wolves, Eric Wise has 10 and Kawhi Leonard and J.J. Campbell each have eight.
Leonard, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, has a particularly difficult matchup against 6-8 sophomore Dwayne Polee, but Leonard appears much more energetic in the early going than last night and he held Polee to only two points in the second quarter.
Polee and Jarred Dubois each have eight points to lead the fourth-seeded Comets.
Don’t expect Westchester to fold up its tent in the second half. Too much pride in this gymnasium. However, that might not be enough to overtake a very special King team.
