The boys’ 1,600 meters at the Orange County Championships Saturday at Mission Viejo sounded like a great race. A different leader emerged after every lap, and Trabuco Hills’ Riley Sullivan emerged from a pack to lead the final lap to score the first of his two distance victories.
Sullivan’s time of 4 minutes 12.72 seconds was second all-time at the meet, bumping his brother’s time from last year to third-best.
J.T. Sullivan’s time from last year in the 3,200 did withstand his brother’s assault. Riley ran a 9:12.96, trailing only J.T.’s 9:10.76.
I’d say talent runs in the family.
