Boys’ tennis: City Section Individual finals are about to begin

Players are completing their warm-ups and we’re just minutes away from the start of the City Section Individual finals at Balboa Sports Center in Encino. In a few hours, or perhaps less, new singles and doubles champions will be crowned.

In singles, top-seeded Josh Tchan of Taft is taking on third-seeded Dennis Mkrtchian of Sherman Oaks CES. The doubles final pits top-seeded Sammy Macias and Andrew Sarawasi of Carson against third-seeded Matt Goodman and Jeremy Shore of Palisades. Third-place matches are also being played on adjacent courts.

It’s hot out here and that could prove a factor should any of these matches go to a third set.
