Baseball: UCLA gets commitment from Edison sophomore

In another sign of how much college recruiting has changed, UCLA has received a commitment from Huntington Beach sophomore center fielder Eric Snyder, who tied the school record held by Jeff Kent last season when he batted .500 as a freshman.
It’s no longer considered unusual for a sophomore to make an early commitment, and Snyder has so much promise that his coach, Steve Lambright, said, ‘He’s probably the best hitter I’ve coached in 15 years. This kid has a future.’
Snyder had a school-record 53 hits in his freshman season. He has missed most of fall ball with an injury.
