Freshman teams being cut in the Los Padres League

In another sign of what figures to be a tough year ahead because of budget cuts, the Los Padres League is cutting freshman sports teams, according to the Santa Maria Times.
The Lompoc District has freshman teams in football, volleyball, basketball and baseball that will disappear next season.
Other districts are investigating ways to deal with budget cuts. The City Section also is facing big decisions what to cut from its sports lineup.
