Boys’ basketball: Ross Branson 11, La Verne Lutheran 8

BAKERSFIELD _ The Division V boys’ game has finished the first quarter, and La Verne Lutheran trails Ross Branson, 11-8.

Perhaps Lutheran has been reading its press clippings, with everyone agreeing that the Trojans should dominate Division V for the next several years.

Lutheran is much taller and more physically imposing than Branson (25-6), so this is going to come down to whether the Trojans are going to impose their will and play smart.

And right now, they are not playing smart.
