Baseball: Division 1 doubleheader about to begin

Blair Field in Long Beach is the site for the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals that begin shortly. First up are the two schools that few predicted would get this far: Wild-card teams Placentia El Dorado and Dana Point Dana Hills.

Dana Hills has to be considered the favorite because it will have pitcher Peter Tago on the mound. He’s supposed to be a top professional prospect. But El Dorado has senior Richard Lucas, who’s 9-2.

The second game at 7 p.m. matches Santa Ana Mater Dei and Simi Valley Royal.

I’ll have updates throughout the evening on both games.
