The Herrington brothers got together Friday for a scrimmage. Dean Herrington, the coach at Mission Hills Alemany, and his defensive coordinator, brother Rick, faced Newhall Hart and oldest brother Mike Herrington.
But the star of the scrimmage was Alemany quarterback Vernon Adams, a senior who just might be a candidate for Serra League player of the year by the end of the season. He was fabulous Friday.
He threw three touchdown passes in the first 12 plays of the scrimmage. Alemany’s offense looked in midseason form. The Warriors open against Westlake Village Oaks Christian next Friday, and the Lions had better be ready.
Hart, down to 35 players, didn’t have a particularly good performance from its secondary, but the good news is the Indians open against Woodland Hills El Camino Real, which doesn’t like to pass. Hart also has a promising punter-kicker in junior Rhett Almond.
