Coaches have begun the scramble and search to fill football games on their schedule for 2011. The top teams have gotten smart. They know to make it to a CIF state championship bowl game, they have to play quality competition.
Adding to the trend is that individuals have started to put together multiple games at one site, trying to make money. There are mini-tournaments scheduled in Sacramento and possibly Mission Viejo for next fall.
Mission Hills Alemany, a Pac-5 semifinalist this season, has openings for zero week, week 2, 3 and 4. The Warriors figure to be a top 25 team next season, so any school looking for a quality opponent, the Warriors could be that team.
The top teams in the Marmonte League have only one nonleague game and must be very careful if they expect to help their cause. Ventura St. Bonaventure and Westlake Village Westlake could be headed to Sacramento for games. Westlake Village Oaks Christian has a tentative game against Bellevue (Wa.) either at home or in Orange County.
Corona Centennial might be getting out of its week 1 game against Birmingham to find a stronger opponent.
Let the jockeying begin.
