Boys’ basketball: Palisades reaches City Division I semifinals

Palisades has broken into the big time in City Section Division I. The Dolphins knocked off host Crenshaw, 72-68, in a quarterfinal game, advancing to a semifinal game against No. 1 Woodland Hills Taft and earning an automatic berth to the state Division I playoffs.
Junior guard Donovan Johnson scored 26 points and Kahil Johnson had 17. Palisades trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half. Isaac Hamilton had 24 points for Crenshaw.
The other semifinal will match Westchester and Washington. Westchester defeated Fairfax, 58-34. Washington defeated Dorsey, 79-61.
In Division II, University defeated Bell, 54-44. David Nwaba had 22 points. El Camin Real defeated Carson, 64-53.
In Division III, Grant defeated Huntington Park, 67-28. Gurgen Hautyunyun had 15 points.
