Baseball: Newbury Park moves into tie for first in Marmonte League

The wild Marmonte League race became even more confusing on Monday when Newbury Park knocked off Westlake Village Westlake, 7-5, to pull into a first-place tie with the Warriors (18-8, 9-4)

Daniel Barnett had three hits and Joe Christian had three RBIs for Newbury Park (18-8, 9-4), which closes league play on Wednesday against Simi Valley (16-8, 8-5). Griffin Paul struck out eight and walked one.

Simi Valley was upset by Thousand Oaks, 6-5, in eight innings despite three hits from Nick Vigo. Moorpark defeated Calabasas, 3-2. Moorpark is tied with Simi Valley at 8-5. Royal defeated Agoura, 5-4, with Nick Murphy getting the victory and two hits.
