Boys’ basketball: Fairfax tournament begins June 27

There are lots of top basketball teams set to play in the Fairfax summer tournament beginning June 27.

Here’s the schedule.

June 27: Mater Dei vs. Campbell Hall, 8:30 p.m.; Harvard-Westlake vs. Dorsey, 7 p.m.; Fairfax vs. La Canada, 5:30 p.m.; Crespi vs. Pasadena, 4 p.m.

June 28: Long Beach Poly vs. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 8:30 p.m.; Santa Monica vs. Oaks Christian, 7 p.m.; Loyola vs. El Camino Real, 5:30 p.m.; Orange Lutheran vs. Alemany, 4 p.m.

The championship game is Saturday, July 2 at 6 p.m. That should be Loyola-Mater Dei if both schools have their top players participating. But Long Beach Poly could be a threat because of the improved play of 6-foot-7 junior-to-be Jordan Bell.
