At the Taft showcase on Sunday, Bellflower St. John Bosco, under first-year Coach Derrick Taylor, was receiving rave reviews.
‘I think he’s a heck of a coach,’ Chaminade Coach Todd Wolfson said. ‘They hit eight straight threes.’
St. John Bosco defeated Chaminade, 78-47, after trailing by two points at halftime. Isaac Hamilton, a junior transfer from Crenshaw, was the standout of the action.
‘He was phenomenal,’ Wolfson said. ‘He’s an NBA guy.’
As to how good St. John Bosco will be, Wolfson said, ‘Top 10 in Southern California.’
If that’s true, Trinity League rival Santa Ana Mater Dei might get some competition this season.
